Living Vibrantly: How Faith Fuels a Radiant Life
Have you ever wondered why some Christians seem to glow no matter how hard life hits? The word vibrant comes to mind because it describes a person pulsating with life, brightly shining from the inside, and full of energy. Faith is the power source of that glow! In his April 21 entry of the Holy Spirit: 366 Day Devotional, A.W. Tozer makes the same connection between faith and vibrance, stating,
“God has provided His salvation that we might be … vibrant children of God, obeying God with all of our hearts and worshiping Him in beauty of holiness.”
Because of Christ’s blood that cleanses every sin, we can be made new and empowered for vibrant life through the power of the Holy Spirit. Vibrant life flows because of faith in Jesus, who produces the fruit of His spirit in us.
Biblical Roots of a Vibrant Life
Interestingly, my Bible word search did not turn up the word vibrant. While many Bible translations may not specifically use the word vibrant, God’s word paints a picture of vibrant life in many passages. Psalm 92:12-14 (NIV) promises that the “righteous will flourish like a palm tree … they will stay fresh and green.” Nature metaphors are used again in Psalm 1, where the godly are described like a tree planted by streams of water, and in Revelation 22 with the crystal river flowing from the throne of God. These passages teach us that the outcome of a life lived close to God in thought, word and deed is an inner strength and vibrancy that can come only from a deep abiding relationship in Christ. When we drift from that river, our spiritual leaves wilt. However, when we stay rooted and grounded in Christ, we have abundant life even in drought years.
Abiding in Christ Daily
Vibrant life in Christ is the fruit of daily abiding in Him and practicing spiritual disciplines that draw us into deeper relationship.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 speaks of wholehearted living,
Psalm 16:11 shows that fullness of joy is found in God's presence.
Psalm 118:24 encourages us to celebrate each day as a gift from the Lord.
Living in Christ means engaging every moment with passion, delighting in His presence, and rejoicing in the day He has made.
Wellness and Spiritual Vibrance
It’s no surprise the wellness and health industry is booming! People want to feel strong, stay energized, and live well. From skincare routines to fitness apps, there’s real value in taking care of our bodies. However, even the best wrinkle cream can’t reach the kind of tiredness that settles deep in your soul. This is why Scripture points us to the source of life:
“Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles” (Isaiah 40:31).
Trusting in Jesus doesn’t stop the clock, but it does redefine what aging looks like. With the Spirit alive in you, you can stay joyful, brave, and live vibrantly at every stage of life.
Walking in Living Color
So, here’s something to reflect on: How spiritually vibrant is your life?
Are you just going through the motions or living it out with purpose? Next, consider the link between worship (both private and with others) and your spiritual spark, as Paul challenges us to:
“Rejoice in the Lord always” (Philippians 4:4)
“Never be lacking in zeal” (Romans 12:11)
This is your personal invitation to abide in Christ and work at whatever you do 'with all your heart' (Colossians 3:23). Take the first step and watch how the Lord begins to paint your days in living color!
